Satisfactory Progress at LCI
The following is a summary of the Satisfactory Progress Policy:
Grades:
- Students are expected to maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher (equivalent to a C average; 73% or better)
- Students whose GPA for a given term is lower than 2.0 will be placed on Academic Probation for the following term
- If a student is placed on Academic Probation for four (4) consecutive terms of study, the student will be dismissed
- If a student is placed on Academic Probation for nine (9) terms, cumulatively, the student will be dismissed
Proficiency Progress:
- Students usually spend at least two (2) terms at a proficiency level in any subject (LCI currently offers classes at 8 levels of proficiency)
- Promotion decisions are based on results of progress tests (Progress testing is conducted during the last 2 weeks of a term in December, April, and July. Students may request progress testing in October, February, and June.)
- Students who repeat a level more than once (remaining at the same level for more than the number of stated terms for progress for that level) will be provided with an ILP aimed at improving their proficiency.

- Students with ILPs must demonstrate a good faith effort to improve their proficiency and advance through the levels
Allowable Terms per Level before Dismissal
Levels 1, 2, 3, 4 : 7 terms Levels 5, 6: 10 terms Level 7: 11 terms Level 8: See Progress Policy
Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs):
- Students are provided with ILPs if they repeat a level more than once.
- Students with ILP agreements meet with an administrator to discuss the ILP.
- Students with ILPs are expected to demonstrate a good faith effort to improve their proficiency by completing specified actions.
- Students who do not meet their ILP goals and have not completed the actions specified on their ILP will be placed on ILP Non-Compliance probation during the following term.
- If a student is placed on ILP Non-Compliance Probation for four (4) consecutive terms of study, the student will be dismissed.
- If a student is placed on ILP Non-Compliance Probation for nine (9) terms, cumulatively, the student will be dismissed.
