Private Tutoring is a separate service which has been provided by Language Center International to the general public since 1989. It is not part of the regularly offered ESL classes at LCI and is outside the scope of the institution's accreditation. Private tutoring serivces are not accredited by ACCET.
- Content, number of hours per week, and meeting times are determined by a student's needs and availability for tutoring
- No minimum number of contact hours required
- Beginning to advanced levels
- Speaking, Pronunciation, Listening, Reading, Grammar, Writing, Presentations, IELTS, iBT test skills, other ESL subjects upon request
- One-on-one or small groups of two to four students
- Flexible scheduling
- Ability to focus on specific areas for improvement
- Lessons held at LCI or approved venue; no lessons are possible at private residences
Certificates & Grades
No certificates of attendance, participation, grades, or grade reports are issued for private tutoring.
Students who need a certificate or grade assessment report based on performance and/or attendance must be enrolled in one of LCI's regular, accredited ESL classes.
Materials
Students are not required to purchase materials from LCI. (See Refunds if a student does choose to purchase materials from LCI). LCI will recommend materials for student use after consulting with the student. Students purchase any agreed upon materials independently. Prices for materials will vary depending on the vendor and selected textbooks, printed materials, audio, video, and software apps.
Refunds
Materials fees are non-refundable if materials are purchased from LCI.
LCI will refund all tutoring deposits paid if requested instruction is canceled prior to the scheduled commencement date. No refunds or adjustments will be given for students who fail to attend a scheduled lesson once instruction has begun.
Re-scheduling Policy
Twenty-four hour notice is required for rescheduling at no charge. Group tutoring meetings are re-scheduled only if all students agree. One-on-one students who cancel with less than twenty-four hour notice will be charged for the canceled lesson.
Fees
$45/hr for 1 student: $70/hr for a group of two students; $90/hr for a group of 3 students: $100/hr for a group of 4 students.
Travel fee: $35 per meeting or the standard IRS mileage fee for the current year, if applicable. No travel fee is charged for tutoring lessons held at LCI.
Payment
Payment is expected in full at the time of tutoring. Contact LCI for corporate or scholarship invoicing information. LCI accepts cash, checks, or Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover.
